The Dry Spell

Mitsuru Kawabayashi's famous novel ``The Dry Spell'', which received attention in 1990 as the winner of the 70th Literary World Newcomer's Award and was nominated for the 103rd Akutagawa Prize, has been made into a film 30 years after its publication. A human drama depicting the turbulent human situation that arises from the encounter between a lonely waterworks official and two young sisters left alone.

The project is produced by Kazuya Shiraishi, who continues to present many profound works to the world. The director is Masaya Takahashi, who has spent his career working as an assistant director on the works of great directors such as Yoshitaro Negishi, Banaki Takahashi, Shinji Somai, Jun Ichikawa, Yoshimitsu Morita, Junji Sakamoto, and Kankuro Kudo.

He has played leading roles in the ``The Mole Song Series'' (2014, 16, 21), ``When They Seriously Weave'' (2017), and ``YUDO'' (23). Toma Ikuta has the ability to play different roles freely. The main character, Shunsaku Iwakiri, a waterworks bureau employee whose job is to shut off water every day for households that are behind on their water bills, embodies the difficult role of recovering the ``hope for life'' while struggling with emotional thirst. In addition, talented actors such as Mugi Kadowaki, Hayato Isomura, and Machiko Ono will be solidifying their support.

Two packages will be released: Blu-ray Deluxe Version and a DVD Standard Edition. Blu-ray Deluxe Version will come with a bonus DVD containing making-Making, event footage, etc., and a special Booklet.

<STORY>
During the dry summer, water restrictions have been imposed in the city. Shunsaku Iwakiri (Toma Ikuta), who works for the city's water bureau, has the job of visiting households and stores that are in arrears with their water bills, collecting the charges, and shutting off the water service. There were days when visiting poor families was frowned upon. Shunsaku has a wife and children, but they live separately, and this life has continued for a long time, and his thirst has become stronger. One day, during a water stoppage, he meets a young sister whose child has been abandoned. Shunsaku can relate to his own child. As if to quench the thirst in his heart, he extends a helping hand to the sister.
